David attended Hazelwood High School while playing for the Prospects. Though David was the 6th highest ranked prospect in Missouri after his senior season, his prowess in the classroom—he was a National Honor Society Member—influenced his decision to attend the University of Notre Dame earning Big East All-Conference honors his sophomore season. After being drafted by the Yankees in 2008, David was named their Minor League pitcher of the year in 2010. David has pitched for the Miami Marlins since a trade from the Yankees before the 2015 season.
