Sam attended Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO while playing with the Prospects. After a great career at the University of Texas in Austin, Sam was selected in the 4th round of the 2005 draft by the Reds. Making his debut in 2010, Sam has enjoyed success in the Major League bullpen, posting a sub ERA every season.
